The leadership at Sumatanga Camp and Conference Center spent a day giving back at The Upper Sand Mountain Parish last week. On November 3rd, 12 members of Sumatanga’s team headed for The Parrish to share their skills with a ministry of The North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Sumatanga’s team spent the day helping to repair and update a building that once served as The Parish’s old cannery. After 8 hours of hard work, the group was pleased to stand back and see what can be accomplished when team truly works together. Windows were insulated and covered, cabinets were installed, molding was added around doors, walls and ceilings, scrap wood was organized and moved, trim was painted and rooms were cleaned. Sumatanga is hoping to return to The Upper Sand Mountain Parish in the near future to help finish the process of repairing the old cannery so the facility can be used as a temporary shelter for individuals needing a place to stay in times of exceptional need.  The Sumatanga Team was truly blessed to have a day of giving back and working along side such a fundamental and beloved ministry. The hearts of the individuals who serve on Sumatanga’s team were touched for the people they served and those who are impacted daily by the hard work done by The Upper Sand Mountain Parish.
