Camp Sumatanga is a place where Jesus revives his people. Our three chapels are special places of worship and reflection. Creel Chapel Creel Chapel is located on top of Chandler Mountain and overlooks Sumatanga; one of the most picturesque places in north Alabama. It can be accessed by the mountain trail or by road. Creel Chapel is open to the public, but there is a $500 fee for private reservation.
Nina Reeves Chapel After storm damage, this chapel was newly rebuilt in 2013. Fortunately we were able to salvage some elements from the previous chapel to be used again in the new structure. Nina Reeves Chapel is located outside the Main Lodge.
Hutto Prayer Chapel This chapel is nestled in the edge of the woods adjacent to the Chigger Bowl in Pool Camp.
All who come Camp Sumatanga are welcome to visit our chapels, but, we ask that if you are visiting a chapel, you first check in with the main office (located in the lobby of the retreat center). Anyone wishing to have the gate unlocked at the top of Creel Chapel must make a request ahead of time. There is a $20 fee to have a staff member unlock the gate.
